Assembly Committee

School Stage with performers

As Assembly Chair you will need to:

  • Attend most Board meetings (we understand life happens) and most General Membership PTA meetings to report your stats and contribute ideas.
  • Be a registered and paid PTA member.
  • Research and gather information on school assembly programs (via the internet, reaching out to other schools to see what they have done, etc.).
  • Make sure assembly programs are all grade and age appropriate.
  • Make sure assembly programs are within AACPS standards and approval guidelines.
  • Work with Administrator to identify the dates, times and programming that work best for the school; ensure all Administration approvals are secured for proposed assemblies.
  • Partner with the assembly presenter/organization to plan and execute a successful assembly.
  • Present information at PTA meetings and to Administration.

Fundraising Committee

As Fundraiser Chair/Committee, you will need to:

  • Attend most Board meetings (we understand life happens) and most General Membership PTA meetings to report your stats and contribute ideas.
  • Be a registered and paid PTA member.
  • Share ideas for fundraisers.
  • Help to set up the fundraiser, manage the fundraiser and associated events, and complete/distribute the fundraiser items.
  • Help to communicate to the school and families what needs to be done for each fundraiser. This includes making flyers and graphics for our social media pages.
  • Create Sign Up Genius links for volunteer support.
  • Create graphics and flyers to promote the fundraiser.
  • This position is a group effort and will not be just one person doing all the jobs and having the weight of each fundraiser on their shoulders. The President and the rest of the Board are very active in helping with fundraisers.

Membership Committee

Group of members

As Membership Chair you will need to:

  • Attend most Board Meetings (we understand life happens) and most General Membership PTA meetings to report your stats and contribute ideas.
  • Be a registered and paid PTA member.
  • Continue to support the membership tool kit website we have set up (you will be trained in how to use the site by our Secretary and/or President).
  • Work with The President to send mass emails if needed through the membership site.
  • Add members throughout the year to the membership site (this slows a lot through the year).
  • Attend back-to-school night, new student orientation and the new student PTA popsicle event at the beginning of the year to help sign members up for the PTA (we do understand there may be other commitments, but ideally the Membership Chair attends these events at the beginning of the school year).
  • Maintain a list of members and share with needed committee chairs.
  • Bring membership forms to events for new members to sign up.
  • Create additional perks for PTA members with the help of the other board members.

This role starts with a larger time commitment at the beginning of the school year and then tends to slow down.

Nantucket Neighbors Committee

As Nantucket Neighbors Chair/Committee, you will need to:

  • Attend most Board meetings (we understand life happens) and most General Membership PTA meetings to report your stats and contribute ideas.
  • Be a registered and paid PTA member.
  • Help support the Nantucket counseling staff to plan, advertise, and fulfill the Harvest for the Hungry Drive for the Anne Arundel County Food bank (October).
  • Work with Walk the Walk Foundation to plan, run, and execute the “Baby I Love You” drive (February).
  • Create Sign Up Genius links for volunteer support for events.
  • Create graphics and flyers to help promote your events.
  • Plan and coordinate a community event to help celebrate and promote awareness of Earth Day (April).

  • Be a registered and paid PTA member.
  • Take pictures and gather pictures from teachers and families from all NES and PTA events for the 2025-26 school year.
  • Organize photos in online photo storage for each grade and events.
  • Learn the Barksdale yearbook program (super easy, there is videos on their site, the company is very hands-on and does zoom calls to show you steps and help you complete the yearbook, and Brenda (President) will train you and support you.)
  • Work with Barksdale to ensure that the yearbook is completed, shipped, and distributed on time.
  • Work with Barksdale to get flyers and promotional items made to be handed out to students to take home.
  • Design and complete the yearbook (Administration has final approval).

This role would be a team effort alongside a Nantucket Teacher and help from the President.
