DESCRIPTION:The 39th annual Harvest for the Hungry drive benefiting the Anne Arundel County Food Bank is underway through October 31! \nJoin us in raising awareness through our Spirit Week days October 27-30: \n\nMonday – NO SCHOOL\nTuesday – Partners in helping kids: Find a partner or group and dress alike!\nWednesday – Put hunger to bed: Wear your pjs so we can put hunger to bed!\nThursday – Team up to feed others: Wear your favorite sports team jersey or colors!\nFriday – Trick or Treat so others can eat: Dress up in your Halloween costume!\n\n  \nHarvest for the Hungry is the Food Bank’s largest food drive of the year\, and they are counting on our support to help the more than 72\,000 people in Anne Arundel County facing food insecurity. Best of all\, 100% of the proceeds benefit the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. Your generosity helps support programs throughout our community\, including food pantries\, baby pantries\, the Mobile Food Pantry\, and the Backpack Buddies program with AACPS. \nHarvest for the Hungry is also a great opportunity for our students to learn about the importance of giving back. By participating\, students learn about hunger in our community and discover that they have the power to make a difference in the lives of others. \n\nHow to donate \nDonate funds online: Visit aacps.org/harvest. When donating\, be sure to select your student’s school from the drop-down menu. AACPS staff can select their office. \nDonate food: Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at your student’s school (or office for AACPS staff) through October 31. \n\nWhat to donate \nALL non-perishable\, non-expired foods are welcome! Think about the foods your own family loves to eat when choosing items to donate. \nPlease avoid glass containers\, which can easily break\, and choose plastic containers whenever possible. \nEvery donation\, big or small\, helps support our neighbors in need. DESCRIPTION:NES Halloween Parade and Classroom Celebrations\nFriday\, October 30\, 2026\n1:00-1:15pm\nNantucket Elementary School (Front side of building) \nIt’s that time of year again! Nantucket Elementary School will be hosting its annual Halloween parade and classroom celebrations. Students should wear their costumes to school and they will wear them throughout the day. If a student is unable to complete school work while in their costume\, their costume may not be appropriate for school. Costumes should be age-appropriate for elementary school. Costumes should not invovle weapons of any kind. Masks may only be worn during the parade and celebration. Face paint is permissible as long as it is not frightening to learners in the building and the student comes to school already wearing the makeup/face paint. Students should be able to manage their costumes independently. \nStudents will participate in an outdoor parade promptly at 1:00pm\, and then classroom teachers and pre-registered volunteers will lead students in planned activities during their 40-minute classroom celebration. The Room Parent and up to 2 volunteers will be supporting the homeroom teacher during the classroom celebration. No other visitors will be admitted to the classroom celebrations. \nIndividual teachers will send out further communications about volunteering and donating supplies for the celebrations. \nIf you do not want your child to participate due to religious belies\, please let your child’s teacher know. \nPlease contact the school office with any questions at 410-451-6120.
